Achilles tendon repair

The Achilles is the strongest tendon in the body and also the one most often left to deteriorate. We treat the full range, from chronic tendinopathy through partial tears to complete rupture, and only recommend surgery when the tendon needs it.

What's Involved

  • Diagnostic imaging — On-site ultrasound to assess tendon thickness, tears, and degeneration.
  • Staged treatment — Eccentric loading, bracing, and shockwave therapy for tendinopathy.
  • Surgical repair — Reconstruction and repair when the tendon is torn, with a structured recovery plan.

When to Come In

  • Pain at the back of the heel — Stiffness that is worst in the first steps of the morning.
  • A sudden pop — Feeling struck in the back of the ankle, often during sport.
  • Weakness pushing off — Difficulty rising onto the toes on one leg.
