Cortisone injections
Cortisone injections
A well-placed cortisone injection can settle inflammation that has resisted everything else, and doing it under ultrasound guidance means it reaches the structure that actually hurts. It is one part of a plan, not the whole plan.
What's Involved
- Diagnosis first — Confirming what is inflamed before injecting anything.
- Ultrasound guidance — Accurate placement into the joint, bursa, or sheath involved.
- Follow-through — Orthotics and rehabilitation so the inflammation does not simply return.
When to Come In
- Persistent joint or tendon inflammation — Pain that has not settled with rest and anti-inflammatories.
- Plantar fasciitis or bursitis — Localised inflammation that responds well to injection.
- Arthritic flare — A specific joint that has become acutely painful.
