Diagnostic sonogram

A sonogram uses sound waves rather than radiation to look inside the body, and having one on site means you are scanned and given the result in the same visit instead of being sent out and waiting on a report. We use it for the abdomen, pelvis, kidneys, thyroid, and soft tissue, alongside the duplex studies our vascular team relies on.

What's Involved

  • On-site scanning — Abdominal, pelvic, renal, thyroid, and soft-tissue imaging performed in the office.
  • Real-time interpretation — Images reviewed by the physician while you are still here, not days later.
  • Ultrasound guidance — The same scanner used to guide injections and vascular access when a procedure calls for it.

When to Come In

  • Unexplained pain or swelling — Abdominal, pelvic, or soft-tissue symptoms that need a look beneath the surface.
  • A lump you can feel — A thyroid nodule, cyst, or mass that should be characterised.
  • Follow-up of a known finding — Tracking something already identified to see whether it has changed.
