Dialysis access management
Dialysis access management
A dialysis fistula or graft only works if it stays open, and a failing access is a medical urgency. We monitor, maintain, and restore access so treatment is not interrupted.
What's Involved
- Access surveillance — Ultrasound and flow assessment to detect narrowing before it fails.
- Angioplasty and thrombectomy — Opening a narrowed access or clearing a clotted one.
- Coordination — Working directly with your nephrologist and dialysis centre.
When to Come In
- Difficulty with dialysis — Prolonged bleeding, low flows, or repeated alarms.
- A change in the thrill or bruit — The buzz over the access feeling weaker or different.
- Arm swelling — Swelling on the access side, which suggests outflow obstruction.
