Foreign body removal

Metal, grit, sawdust, or a stray eyelash lodged on the eye surface will not always wash out, and rubbing at it makes the damage worse. We remove it under magnification and treat the surface underneath so it heals cleanly.

What's Involved

Magnified examination — Slit lamp inspection of the cornea, conjunctiva, and under the lids to find everything present.
Safe removal — The object lifted out under topical anaesthetic, including any rust ring left by metal.
Healing care — Antibiotic cover and a follow-up check to confirm the surface has closed.

When to Come In

Something struck your eye — Grinding, hammering, drilling, or yard work without eye protection.
Persistent scratching sensation — Discomfort that worsens when you blink.
Redness and tearing that will not settle — Especially with light sensitivity or blurred vision.
