Ingrown toenail removal
Ingrown toenail removal
An ingrown nail that has broken the skin will keep reinfecting until the offending edge is removed. The in-office procedure takes about twenty minutes and there is a permanent option for nails that keep coming back.
What's Involved
- Local anaesthetic — The toe fully numbed so the procedure is comfortable.
- Partial nail avulsion — Removal of the ingrowing border, leaving the rest of the nail intact.
- Permanent correction — Chemical matrixectomy for recurrent cases so that border does not regrow.
When to Come In
- Pain along the nail edge — Tenderness when anything presses on the side of the toe.
- Redness, swelling, or pus — Signs the nail has broken the skin and infected.
- It keeps coming back — Repeat episodes on the same toe.
