Plantar wart treatment
Plantar wart treatment
Plantar warts grow inward under the pressure of walking, which is why they hurt and why over-the-counter treatments so often fail. We treat them at the depth they actually sit and confirm first that the lesion is a wart and not a callus or something else.
What's Involved
- Diagnosis — Debridement and examination to confirm a wart rather than a corn or callus.
- In-office treatment — Cryotherapy, acid therapy, or excision depending on size, depth, and location.
- Recurrence plan — Follow-up treatment, because warts frequently need more than one session.
When to Come In
- Pain when standing — A lesion that hurts more with direct pressure than with a pinch.
- Black dots in the lesion — Small clotted capillaries visible in the surface.
- Spreading — One lesion becoming several, or one that keeps returning.
