Specialty contact lens fitting
Specialty contact lens fitting
Standard soft lenses do not fit every eye. Irregular corneas, severe dry eye, high astigmatism, and post-surgical eyes usually need a custom-fitted lens, and getting it right takes measurement rather than trial and error.
What's Involved
- Corneal mapping — Topography that measures the exact shape of the eye's surface.
- Lens selection — Scleral, rigid gas permeable, hybrid, or custom soft lenses chosen to match that shape.
- Fit refinement — Diagnostic wear and adjustment until comfort and vision are both right.
When to Come In
- Told you cannot wear contacts — A previous fitting that failed with standard lenses.
- Irregular cornea — Keratoconus, scarring, a transplant, or refractive surgery.
- Vision glasses cannot correct — Blur that remains at your best spectacle prescription.
