Spider vein treatment

Spider veins are small surface veins that can sting and burn as well as show. They are treated with sclerotherapy, but we check the deeper veins first, because treating the surface while the underlying reflux remains simply invites them back.

What's Involved

  • Underlying assessment — Ultrasound to confirm there is no deeper reflux feeding them.
  • Sclerotherapy — A fine needle injection that collapses the vein, over one or more sessions.
  • Aftercare — Compression guidance to get the best result from each session.

When to Come In

  • Fine red or blue veins — Web-like clusters on the legs or ankles.
  • Burning or itching — Surface veins that are uncomfortable as well as visible.
  • Veins that keep returning — Recurrence after previous treatment elsewhere.
